Another weekend spent in the backyard. And, I do not feel guilty about it. This is my last full weekend of summer break. While I do not have to report to campus until August 7, per contract, I will be going into the office later this week. Hopefully, it will provide a smooth transition into the clown show that is public education.

On a happier note, I am really excited about this succulent planter. It almost died this winter, due to excessive rain and freezing temperatures. And while some of my succulents are getting sunburned in this 100℉ heat, these little plants are thriving. Makes me wish I had room for a greenhouse in the backyard. Some day.

Got to see the boy for a bit today, and a little bit yesterday. He arrived midday Sunday, and brought a Titleist Aussie hat for me. Then he jumped in the car to join his high school buddies for a round of twilight golf. Today, we chatted for a bit and then went to lunch before his dentist appointment. And, just like that, he's back on the road to Reno.

At least, he is happy and enjoying the college life. He is certainly enjoying his job at the country club as a course maintenance operator, along with the free golf and perks like $5 meals. I'll see him again this weekend in Tahoe. Meanwhile, the high temperature is heating up and my succulents are thriving...just like he is.

Warmest day of the year so far. Topped out at 95 today. Succulents are thriving.

Succulents are looking good, but they should be thriving right now with warm, sunny days. Today was another blustery day and the average daily temperature is still running ten degrees below average. Tomorrow through Wednesday is forecasted to be in the low 60s when it should be in the high 70s. *sigh*

Picked up these beauties today. Also came home with a couple rat traps because I think there’s one trying to make a nest under the hot tub.

Back to reading, annotating, and writing a Chapter 2 (literature review). That’s my Saturday.
