Summer update: this is where I live now.

Specifically, at that desk. Staring at a screen, and sometimes staring out the window.

“We live on an island surrounded by a sea of ignorance. As our island of knowledge grows, so does the shore of our ignorance.”

—John Archibald Wheeler

I realized today that is has been four years since I began my journey to complete a doctoral program. I don't care for the term "journey" since it seems to be overused on reality television shows. But, it is a journey. It is a battle. It is a constant struggle to finish. And, one thing I have realized while my way through this doctoral program and now the dissertation component, is the limitation of my own experience in this world.

And spawn is off to Reno, with a short stop at the doctor’s office first. Wellness check/physical is important.

Then back out to Warby Parker to get glasses adjusted. Again. Lots of water being released from Folsom Dam, as the snow melt continues.

Father's Day

Ribs slow-cooked and a few pours of bourbon. Spawn came down for the weekend. Parents came over for dinner.

Not a bad way to spend the day.

This arrived late yesterday, right before happy hour with the folks. Only cost me $30 in delivery fees. Totally worth it!

A printer friend from the Bay Area reached out a few months ago asking me if I wanted it. I replied that I did, but I was not sure when I would be able to pick it up. She messaged a few days ago to say that her friend could deliver it, if I would be willing to chip in some gas money.

As far as I can tell, it was originally owned by Petersen Publishing who are responsible for such magazines as Hot Rod, Guns & Ammo, and Teen Beat. It is an eleven-drawer Case Steel, counter height cabinet with a top from Herman Miller. Not sure if that was an add-on?
